Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Labor & Delivery (L&D)
Job Summary:
As a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery, you will be responsible for providing care and support to expectant mothers and their newborn babies during the childbirth process. You will work closely with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a safe and positive birthing experience for both mother and baby.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs throughout labor and delivery
2. Assist with the administration of medication and pain management techniques
3. Coach and support mothers during labor and delivery
4. Provide education and guidance to new parents on caring for their newborn
5. Assist with newborn care, including breastfeeding support and monitoring infant health
6. Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and efficiently
7. Collaborate with other healthcare team members to provide comprehensive care to patients
8. Respond to emergencies and complications during labor and delivery
9. Maintain a safe and clean work environment for patients and staff
10. Stay up-to-date on current practices and guidelines in Labor & Delivery nursing
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
3. Certification in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB) preferred
4. Previous experience in Labor & Delivery nursing
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to work well under pressure and in high-stress situations
7. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
8. Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
9. Ability to multitask and prioritize patient care
10. Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
