The Float RN provides skilled, flexible nursing care across multiple hospital units based on staffing needs, patient acuity, and specialties. This nurse is expected to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and maintain a high standard of patient care across departments including medical-surgical, telemetry, ICU, emergency, and more.
Deliver direct patient care in various units, including assessment, medication administration, and documentation.
Adapt to the clinical workflows and policies of each assigned unit quickly and efficiently.
Monitor patient condition, collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team, and implement care plans.
Respond to emergencies and urgent changes in patient condition across diverse clinical settings.
Educate patients and families on treatments, procedures, and discharge plans.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
Float between units such as Med-Surg, Telemetry, ICU, ER, Behavioral Health, and more based on competency and assignment.
Licensure: Active and unrestricted RN license in [State].
Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).
Certifications: BLS required; ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS preferred depending on units floated to.
Experience: 2+ years of acute care experience; multi-unit or float experience highly preferred.
Strong adaptability, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Must be comfortable working in fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
