👩‍⚕️ Physician – Hospitalist OB (Obstetrics) | Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated OB Hospitalist Physician to join our Labor & Delivery team. This role involves providing 24/7 inpatient obstetric care, supporting laboring patients, managing obstetric emergencies, and collaborating with the broader medical team to ensure optimal maternal and fetal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide round-the-clock coverage and care for patients in the labor and delivery unit

• Manage obstetric emergencies including preterm labor, hemorrhage, fetal distress, and eclampsia

• Perform deliveries (vaginal and cesarean) as needed

• Collaborate with OB/GYNs, midwives, nurses, anesthesiologists, and pediatric teams

• Evaluate and admit patients through emergency, direct, or scheduled pathways

• Perform bedside procedures as appropriate (e.g., cervical checks, fetal monitoring, etc.)

• Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to quality and safety protocols

• Provide consults and support for complex OB cases

• Participate in hospital committees, quality improvement, and peer review processes

Qualifications:

• MD or DO with board certification/eligibility in Obstetrics & Gynecology

• Valid and unrestricted medical license in the practicing state

• Current BLS and ACLS certification (NRP and ATLS preferred)

• Minimum 2–3 years of inpatient OB experience preferred

• Ability to manage high-risk pregnancies and obstetric emergencies confidently

• Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills

Work Schedule:

Full-Time or Part-Time | 12-hour or 24-hour shifts | Nights, weekends, holidays as assigned
