The Medical Director โ OB/GYN provides clinical leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for all obstetric and gynecological services. This role ensures high-quality patient care, compliance with medical standards, operational excellence, and supports the growth of womenโs health programs. The Medical Director collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and administrative teams to drive clinical outcomes and implement best practices across the department.
Provide medical leadership for OB/GYN services, including obstetrics, gynecology, maternal-fetal health, and reproductive care.
Oversee clinical protocols to ensure safe, high-quality, evidence-based patient care.
Supervise OB/GYN physicians and advanced practice providers; support recruitment and retention.
Lead performance improvement initiatives and quality assurance activities.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (CMS, Joint Commission, state guidelines).
Oversee complex OB/GYN cases and support providers with clinical decision-making.
Promote patient safety, risk management, and best practices in labor & delivery units.
Implement initiatives to improve maternal health outcomes and patient satisfaction.
Develop and expand womenโs health programs including prenatal care, fertility, minimally invasive gynecology, and preventive care.
Collaborate with hospital leadership to enhance service lines and operational efficiency.
Participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Provide mentorship for residents, fellows, nursing teams, and clinical staff.
Develop continuing education programs to maintain clinical excellence within the department.
Serve as liaison between OB/GYN providers, administration, and multidisciplinary teams.
Strengthen community partnerships and referral networks.
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Minimum 5โ7 years clinical OB/GYN experience, with leadership responsibility preferred.
Active, unrestricted medical license.
Strong knowledge of maternal health, high-risk obstetrics, gynecology surgery, and evidence-based practice.
Proven leadership, communication, and team management skills.
Experience as Department Chair, Section Chief, or Medical Director.
Fellowship training (MFM, REI, GYN Oncology, Urogynecology) is a plus.
Strong background in quality improvement and population health.
Experience with EMR systems and healthcare operations.
